The HOMEologist

A flexible, informal approach to interiors advice and home organisation.

Hello, I’m Isabelle. Nice to see you here : )

The HOMEologist is the result of my life-long love for interiors and organisation.

Friends have often turned to me for advice on all things houses, and a few years ago began asking if they could recommend me to their friends too… I could see there was an appetite for a home "problem solver" for when things aren’t quite looking, or working as well as they should.

After 40 word-of-mouth clients over two and a bit years, I formalised my services with The HOMEologist. I have now had over 70 clients.

I find immense satisfaction in helping my clients to realise the true potential of their homes, and get them looking and working beautifully.

You can see my own home on instagram at @lehomelehouse (it was quite the project…).

We’d start by having a (free) phone call to find out what aspect of your home you’d like help with, what is and isn’t working for you, and get to know each other.

Once work starts, I charge by the hour (£75 p/h). Every client needs something a little different from me, so working hourly works for both sides.

Locally in South West London, I work for a minimum of one hour. For work further afield, two or more hours would be the minimum - to be discussed.

Contact me at isabelle@thehomeologist.co.uk to get started.

Working flexibly, by the hour, I can help you fall back in love with your home by addressing any issues you have with its form, flow or function.

Some of the ways I have helped past clients and can help you:

  • Be a sounding board to discuss ideas you have for your home whether you are pre, mid or post renovation, or you have inherited a scheme you would like to update.
  • Be a fresh pair of eyes when you can’t see the wood for the trees - a little home ‘audit’ of areas that aren’t meeting their potential. All my ideas and tips there and then.
  • A thorough reorganisation and declutter of whole rooms (and whole floors) to get a space working optimally - making a considered, dedicated space for all possessions, in turn making the space easier to maintain.
  • Produce mood boards with my ideas for how you can enhance your home.
  • Advise on paint.
  • Source furniture, artwork and storage solutions.
  • Get your home ready for sale to maximise its appeal for potential buyers. I can either advise on what to do, or help you put the plan in action too.
  • Basically, pretty much whatever is needed to get your home looking and/or working the way you’d like and at its full potential.

I live in South West London with my husband, two daughters, and one gorgeous cat. I am a psychology graduate and my previous career was in events management.

Raising a young family in a small flat, and then a building site (as we lived-in through our house renovations) further ingrained my belief that life is a lot harder than it needs to be when your home is working against you, rather than for you.

I am thrilled to share my experience working with Isabelle. From the moment we started, it has been an absolute joy. Her flexible and informal approach makes the entire process enjoyable and stress-free. She really takes the time to understand your style and needs, whilst making the most of existing items too. She really has turned our house into a home in the truest sense. Her judgment is impeccable - I've come to trust her decisions completely. She always seems to know exactly what will work best in each space. Not only is she incredibly talented, but she’s also so easy to work with. Communication is always smooth, and she’s incredibly responsive to any questions along the way. If you're looking for someone who will transform your space with creativity and care, I highly recommend Isabelle. KATIE, SOUTH WEST LONDON

We have used Isabelle for a variety of projects, from an initial consultation at our building site to help with the overwhelm of choosing paint colours for a whole house to smaller projects like re-jigging an open plan area to meet the needs of our growing family. Each time she has gone above and beyond with her suggestions and sourcing great deals for us. I love her style and the way she brings a look altogether with furnishings and accessories is genius. She produces great mood boards that fit the brief and budget and is so responsive to queries handing out great advice.

I have recommended Isabelle to a number of friends and family members who have all been as impressed and grateful for her expertise and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to everyone whether it's a total refurbishment or just smaller finishing touches - she can do it all! I have had the pleasure of having Isabelle over several times to help me with decluttering. To be honest I felt a little embarrassed for someone else to see the mess behind the cupboards and endless toys I've been meaning to get rid of but haven't. But Isabelle comes with no judgment - she really "gets" it. She is warm and friendly and has this uncanny ability to spot solutions to storage and layout problems that I haven't been able to. I felt like she was some sort of fairy godmother who came and made everything just right, and to know everything is organised and has a "place" has had a massive effect on the harmony in the house, and my own feeling of calm! Thank you, Isabelle! LOUISA, SOUTH WEST LONDON

I’ve been so impressed with the service Isabelle offers. She’s got a knack for looking at a room and seeing what it needs, at the same time as staying very much in tune with her client’s ideas and preferences. She has helped me with a host of practical design ideas and her input has been really invaluable. Her flexible service has allowed me to access interior design advice on tap. I genuinely don’t think it’s too exaggerated to say that Isabelle has changed our lives since she helped declutter and reorganise our kitchen/dining and living rooms. It’s re-energised our relationship with a home we’ve lived in for 10 years and given us renewed pride without having to spend a penny on decorating it. We are more organised and have more space for things. She even managed to gain us a whole double kitchen cupboard of space which I would NEVER have believed when we started.

Not only is Isabelle incredibly skilled in a way that needs to be seen to be believed, she is calm, kind, patient and thought provoking - challenging without being pushy. She’s a pleasure to work with and, apart from achieving a huge amount in the two days I worked with her, I just thoroughly enjoyed it! If you’re considering using Isabelle’s services I urge you to go for it. GINA, SOUTH WEST LONDON

We were carrying out a small renovation of our downstairs - new kitchen, new flooring, minor layout tweaks and general refresh, and were in need of help getting our ideas to gel together. I found that most interior design packages were too in-depth for what we were doing until I came across Isabelle! She was able to offer us bespoke advice, just on the areas we needed. In our case this was mainly furniture, layout and style, and colour pallet inspiration.

We used Isabelle twice - once at the start and again half way through our project which was so flexible and great to keep us on track. SOPHIE, SOUTH WEST LONDON

Isabelle is a miracle worker. I was so worried that the process of decluttering years of stuff would be both impossible (given how much had built up) and traumatic, but I was amazed at how much we managed to accomplish each day. Isabelle initiated systems that made everything easy to classify, had great suggestions on how to adapt our existing furniture/display spaces and was super sensitive to my wobbles. Although we built up many bags of rubbish/recycling/charity donations, I never once felt like I was losing anything important. The result is a wonderfully clear downstairs that I am no longer ashamed to invite guests into, and more importantly all the logic and systems that we had put in place during the day meaning that it is really easy to maintain as I know where everything belongs. Isabelle was a dream to work with. When we suddenly decided to sell our house and had to do it quite quickly, the house was not ready for photos and viewings. With the help of Isabelle and a full day's work it looked like a different property and we managed to have 10 viewings booked in in the first 24 hours of it going online and secured an offer quickly after. This would not have happened without Isabelle. She is so proactive, productive and knows how to declutter and style a house. She is genuinely so lovely and will go out of her way to help. Thank you Isabelle. I wouldn’t hesitate to use you again! ANNA, SOUTH WEST LONDON

I loved having Isabelle come into our home to help us declutter. She was lovely and friendly and gave practical advice when I was hesitant to throw stuff out. Isabelle also created a practical and lovely way for our home to work that we have managed to incorporate into our daily lives. I loved my time with Isabelle and welcomed her great storage and furniture ideas to make our home neat and easy to manage :) TINA, SOUTH WEST LONDON

After a major renovation of our home, I had run out of design ideas - and energy - to put the finishing touches to a room we wanted to use as a library/cinema. Then Isabelle came to the rescue! She came up with fresh ideas for colour, room design, fabrics, furniture & curtains. She understood exactly what sort of mood I wanted for the room and gave me lots of options to choose from. She introduced me to fantastic new retailers and suppliers. The room is now one of our favourites and always gets lots of compliments from friends. I highly recommend Isabelle. She is a wonderfully creative and talented designer. ALICE, SOUTH WEST LONDON

I had the pleasure of working with Isabelle to add the finishing touches to my home following a move to Earlsfield. From the start, Isabelle was lovely to work with, listening carefully to my vision for the house and working collaboratively to come up with recommendations that suited my needs and style. Her creativity shone through in every aspect of the project, bringing thoughtful and detail-oriented ideas. The result is a beautiful, cohesive space that feels uniquely mine. I couldn't be happier with the result and highly recommend Isabelle’s services to anyone looking to transform their house into a home. SOPHIE, SOUTH WEST LONDON

Isabelle is the honest best friend, interior designer and organiser extraordinaire that everyone needs in their life. By combining her experience in psychology, interiors and motherhood, her advice and ideas are specifically tailored to how you live your life, and she is lovely to boot! Not many people manage seven hours in my kitchen without losing it, but Isabelle managed! KATHERINE, SOUTH WEST LONDON
Home organisation and decluttering

I have worked with Isabelle several times over the last few years. Each time she has been amazing at helping me work out what I needed and how to go about getting it. We renovated a whole house, and by the time we got to decorating and furnishing the house we had decision fatigue. She gently helped me work out what my style was and created colour charts and mood boards that perfectly captured the house I wanted to have. I have used them to gradually create my now lovely home. She also gave me so many tips for how to have good looking but practical furniture which has helped me so much with my life organisation! I now recommend her to all my friends and several have also worked with her and are always so pleased they have. She has a great eye for colour and style, design and organisation and is so warm and friendly. I'd recommend her to anyone looking to create a new kitchen, re-decorate, renovate or declutter and organise their house! STEPH, MANCHESTER

My husband and I recently moved into a new Victorian flat which had been decorated in a horrible yellow colour. With a clear vision of how we wanted our home to look and feel we felt totally overwhelmed about how to create this vision and where to start having discovered that there are 50 shades of white and that they actually are all different! At this point we contacted Isabelle through a recommendation and she came to our rescue! Having sent some pictures of our vision prior to our meeting, it was clear that Isabelle had studied our inspiration in great detail and was able to identify exactly what it was that created that vision and feel in a home, from the colours on the wall to the layering of different textures. Isabelle listened to our ideas and was able advise on colour, style and feel for each room in our home. Having done a beautiful DIY project herself she really understood how to create an expensive look at an affordable price. We are now part way through our project and we are totally in love with what we have been able to create. None of which would have been possible without her talent, patience, advice and guidance. Isabelle helped us out with decluttering and sorting various parts of our house and we haven’t looked back. She managed to transform a cluttered and poorly put-together playroom into one that works so much better for our family and is now well ordered and looks 100% better than it did. She also reordered our daughter’s bedroom, sourced new furniture for us, and even helped me take things to the charity shop. Things still get messy in our house but now everything has a place, and so tidying up is that much easier. Isabelle is very talented at what she does but also lovely and non judgmental with it, making a difficult job fun! If you need some inspiration with how to decorate or furnish your house, or a declutter or even help sourcing furniture, I couldn’t recommend Isabelle highly enough. Money very well spent! We moved into our new house a year ago and couldn’t figure out how to make our open plan dining / play area work. Isabelle spent an hour in our house suggesting configurations that could work, and then another hour looking up relevant bits of furniture online. It’s still a work in progress, but we are very happy with all the changes we have made so far and would happily recommend Isabelle. LILIT, SOUTH WEST LONDON

Isabelle is simply wonderful! She has an eye for style, details and organisation that was extremely helpful for us. I’ve used her work on different occasions. Organising the children’s playroom, she suggested storage and even moved some furniture around! Things that I never thought about. A Different pair of eyes that made the difference! Isabelle also helped design my downstairs toilet/ utility room. On that occasion she gave invaluable advice regarding colours and lighting which made a huge difference… all in the details. Lastly when we did our kitchen extension she also suggested some beautiful colours for the kitchen walls and doors. Isabelle is a lovely and polite lady that captures your wishes and sources ideas without imposing. Definitely a must if you want extra ideas or advice. ISABELA, SOUTH WEST LONDON
